JCB Resumes Production in five of its UK factories
Joseph Cyril Bamford Excavators or JCB to everyone were founded in 1945 and are a British multinational corporation with their headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire specialising in manufacturing equipment for construction, agriculture, waste handling and demolition. Producing over 300 types of equipment according to their own website, with revenue of £3.35 billion in 2018.
The ease of lockdown – JCB resumes some production
The ease of lockdown in the UK for manufactures and construction companies has resulted in JCB resuming some low level production in five of its sites. Following government guidelines the five factories are following strict safety measures across its working staff members.
British Construction
JCB’s production line dropped silent in mid-March and JCB placed a large number of their employees on furlough. JCB employees around 6,500 people across the UK.
Safety Measures Put In Place
Some of the safety measures that JCB have provided its working staff are that they have imposed daily temperature checks and the wearing of facemasks.
Walkways across the site will be marked so that social distancing is imposed, the canteen will be closed and things like vending machines switched off.
Graeme Macdonald chief executive of JCB said
“Production has resumed at a very low level, mainly to satisfy demand for agricultural machinery”.
“Ahead of this re-start, an exhaustive review was undertaken to enable us to introduce wide-ranging measures that will best protect our employees”.
